BlackBerry: The Dev Alpha Is Not A BlackBerry 10 Phone.

ImageNews flashing from Ottawa reveales that the Canadian phone-maker Research In Motion Ltd has  offered initial software tools to developers looking to create applications for its new BlackBerry 10 platform. RIM plans to regain the reign of the market which it lost to Apple and Google's Android and there is no other way to get back, except creating a better firmware and operating system with developer made apps.

BlackBerry thus prepares to make consumer-oriented phones like the Apple's iPhoneFor this, RIM plans to give-away BlackBerry 10 Smartphones to developers so that they can develop apps for the new platform. “The reason why we’re doing this — which is unprecedented for us and it’s quite uncommon in the industry — is because we want to create a wave of application support behind the new BlackBerrys before we bring them to market,” Mr. Saunders said in an interview on Friday. The prototype device which are being given away are called the 'Alpha Dev'.

Alpha Dev :

The give-away-smart-device would be featuring a 4.2" touchscreen display at1024x768 pixel resolution, which is the same resolution of the PlayBook. And take note, RIM has been screaming their lungs out that the Alpha Dev is not a BlackBerry 10 Phone. Its just being given to app dev's so that they can study the firmware, make apps compatible to it and help RIM increase their hold over the markets.

Considering it only a give-away developer device, it would be intriguing to know what the actual phone would look like. To me, it looks pretty and will definitely give a bump to the iPhone and Android devices.

Development process:

RIM has already caught hold of partners which eager enough to develop applications for their new OS. Among those developers are social fitness app maker Endomondo, magazine store PixelMags, local search app maker Poynt, reality company WikitudeGameloft said it was working to bring 11 games to the new platform,

And the news for the final version of the phones, RIM said would not be sold to consumers until late this year. So, we hope time flies and the consumers get their finger to salsa on the new BlackBerry 10.
